Cronicles of a Willibe Millionaire

Sheesh. Not even a week, and so much done.

It's amazing that one can put so much in place in so little time. The NET can be such an awesome place!

A friend indicated that "Willibe" is MUCH MORE POSITIVE than "wannabe". I like the idea and am changing my "slogan". Foot in mouth

Another Support calls needed:

I realised yesterday that the Site Search is not working. Some READING the DOCS indicatd that the regular indexing needs to be run automatically - via a CRON Job. This needs to be scheduled on the Hosting Web server.

The web site comes standard with a program that does the housekeeping every time it is run.

I had to phone HETZNER, because their ConsoleH help does not give an example of what to enter for a website housekeeping job - so much for award-winning SW! (It did note a PHP5 command, but theyir standard is PHP4) The chap at support was very helpful though, and helped me trouble-shoot. He solved the problem quickly, and configured it for me while we were on the phone. THANK YOU Support!

I've been browsing the online catalogue for Modules that seems useful:

  • Click Thru Tracking (click-5.x-1.0)
  • Akismet (akismet-5.x-1.3 ; anti-span for the site)
  • Hall of Fame (hof-5.x-1.1)
  • Embedded Filter (embedfilter-5.x-1.0 ; enable embedded media content)
  • tinymce (tinymce_2_1_2 ; WISYWIG Text Editor to provide formatting in text content)
  • URL Icon (urlicon-5.x-1.2 ; puts the icon of the destination site next to the link)
  • SignWriter (signwriter-5.x-1.1 ; I stil have to figure out how to use it, and how useful it really is)
  • Image Gallery (gallery-2.2.3 ; provides an image gallery; still have to play with this one)
  • Flash enabling tools (swftools-5.x-1.1 ; seems its used to enable some Flash / audio players)
  • Views (views-5.x-1.6 ; to select content to present on whatever criteria; apparently a must-have, but not for raw novices)

I also started looking at the Category thing - more on that later.

I'm still busy browsing... I'll update this post as I go along this weekend
