Cronicles of a Willibe Millionaire
1st, Happy New Year to us all!
I've been battling since December with a memory problem - not enough of it!
It seems to have resulted from the number of Modules I've been adding... Apparently the system keeps data and stuff for each active module in memory.
Well! Yesterday I (finally) decided to do, exactly what I should have done in December - phones the Hosting company's Tech Support line.
The chap was very helpful, and examined the Web Engine's (Apache) memory settings for me - I can't access these settings. He then tweaked some settings for me, while I mirrored the settings for my Web Application (my Content Management System).
Hooray! Problem solved.
Thanks to Hetzner's Support for being so helpful. ; )
Now I can install the Community and eCommerce modules - the really nice-lookig stuff.
Just shows you: Choose a Hosting Company well.
Tips for choosing a Hosting Company:
- Chat to their support staff 1st, before committing yourself.
- Do they sound helpful on the phone - do they listen or do they throw a lot of Techno-babble at you.
- Do they know the Content Management Systems (at least SOME of them) that their Company recommend.
- As for a name of a person that knows most about your chosen platform - Write down that Name.
- Write down the names of the Tech Support people you talk with. Greet them next time! Build a relationship.
I'll post an update once I've installed the Community and/or Ecommercce stuff.
TipsImportant: Not all the Support staff are at the same level, or will know all the systems they recomment.
