Cronicles of a Willibe Millionaire
I did it - Myself!
The site's Status Report informed me that a Drupal upgrade is available.
Now what do I do?
Well...
It even gave me the link to get the update.
How to instal : A quick search of the Drupal site returned a how-to-upgrade page.
I also had a look at the upgrade recommendations in the UPGRADE.txt for the new 5.4 version of the core system. (Good thing, as it turned out to be easier to follow than the online info)
After figuring out that public_html is the Root folder of a Drupal site, it was easy to backup the folders and files there.
It kept the following folders: image, files (in root) and files in the sites folder, modules
and the following config files: .htaccess file in the root and settings in the default sites folder (backup memory settings I added previously).
I followed the instruction in the install.txt after reading it all 1st (important to uderstand the flow of it).
As the major version is still 5.x, I simply replaced the core module folders with the new ones.
I then edited the new config files, to enter the memory settings: .htaccess and site settings files.
The rest was pretty ok!
Awesome to think I upgraded a Web Site - wow!
PS: I did have to go find the Database settings for my site, as the update asks for that again.
'Til next time.
